Clancy Scores Two as Hornets Defeat Wasps 4-0
EMORY, VA – Sophomore Tim Clancy scored two goals as the Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry College 4-0 on the road in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
LC got on the board late in the first half when freshman Brandon Webster sent the ball over E&H keeper Didier Grillet's head off of a cross from freshman Ben Grossfuss. The Hornets went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, but the net would open up for Lynchburg in the second half.
Lynchburg did not waste time scoring in the second when Clancy fired in his first goal of the night at 47:29 off of an assist by junior Luke Moore. Just a minute later, the Hornets increased their lead to 3-0. Sophomore Daniel Jobrack took a shot that was saved by Didier, but Moore played clean-up and scored off the rebound. Clancy marked his second goal of the game at 51:51 and upped the score to 4-0, with Moore assisting on the play.
Senior Jonathan Sheffield played 61:34 at goal for the Hornets and allowed no goals saved one ball, while senior Austin Davis saw 28:26 in goal for LC and recorded a save. Didier played all 90 minutes in goal for the Wasps (2-16/1-9 ODAC) and had seven saves. Lynchburg had a 26-5 shot advantage and led in corner kicks 10-3.
The Hornet men (9-5-2/7-2-1 ODAC) will be back in action on Tuesday, October 29 for their last game of the regular season when they will travel to face ODAC opponent Roanoke College at 7:30 p.m.
