LC Men's Soccer Rolls to 4-0 win over Bridgewater on Homecoming
LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore forward Luke Moore scored the game's first two goals as the Lynchburg College men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win against visiting Bridgewater College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The two Hornet seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony on Homecoming Saturday.
Moore found himself behind the Eagle defense and scored just 3:10 into the game. Four minutes later Moore struck again, firing in a long distance shot from over 30 yards out on a feed from freshman Tim Clancy.
Junior midfielder Michael Venegas added another tally from sophomore Tom Titus with 30 minutes left in the game. Sophomore Trevor Davis scored from freshman TJ Guerra in the closing minutes to end the scoring.
Each team fired 13 shots, with nine of LC's on net to three for BC. Kevin Morris made five stops for Bridgewater (9-9/5-5 ODAC). Michael Releford and Jonathan Sheffield split time in the Hornet net, making three saves to preserve the shutout.
The Hornets (6-6-4/5-1-4 ODAC) host Virginia Wesleyan College in their final game of the season Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. LC currently sits in third place in the ODAC standings and clinched a spot in the eight-team ODAC Tournament with today's win.
