Salisbury Scores in OT to Defeat LC Men 1-0
WOODBRIDGE, VA – Jake Perry scored the game-winner in overtime to give the 19th-ranked Salisbury University men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Lynchburg College Wednesday in a game played at Woodbridge High School.
Junior keeper Michael Releford made 10 saves in regulation to keep the Hornets in the contest against the nationally ranked Sea Gulls. Salisbury out-shot Lynchburg 25-8 in the first 90 minutes but didn't find the back of the net until 99:21 of overtime. Pat Callahan fed Perry with a cross for the deciding score.
Salisbury held an advantage of 9-1 in corner kicks and net-minder John Vnenchak made three saves.
The Hornets (1-4) open their Old Dominion Athletic Conference season Saturday at home against Emory & Henry College at 7 p.m.
