LC Men's Soccer Drops Season-Opener 1-0 to #22 Neumann
SALEM, VA – Andy Attah scored in the 41st minute to give #22 Neumann University a 1-0 victory over the Lynchburg College men's soccer team on Saturday at the Roanoke College Tournament.
In the first 11 minutes of the game, the Hornets earned two corner kicks. However, neither occasion brought a shot on goal. LC would register three shots on goal in the next ten minutes, but Knights goalkeeper Alex Lacko stopped all of them. Neumann would not register a shot until Attah had a breakaway after receiving a pass from Michael Attallian.
Each would get several chances in the second half, but both goalies held their ground. Lynchburg goalie Michael Releford making four saves and Lacko stopping three in the half, including a header in the 86th minute from Luke Moore.
LC earned more corners and outshot the Knights in the game. Releford made four saves on the day.
Lacko led Neumann (1-0) while stopping six shots.
Lynchburg (0-1) will be back in action on Sunday against Gwynedd-Mercy College. Kickoff of the Roanoke College Tournament game is scheduled for noon.
