Guilford Upsets LC Men 2-1
GREENSBORO, NC - The Guilford College men's soccer team opened a two-goal lead Tuesday evening and held on for a 2-1 win over regular-season champion Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
Freddy Gomez scored early for GC from Drew Gunter at the 3:35 mark for the only goal of the first half. The Quakers added a much-needed insurance goal at 65:27 from Greg Carnovale, because Donald Hart III netted an unassisted tally for LC at 69:07.
The Hornets outshot the Quakers 19-8 and were awarded the game's only three corner kicks.
The Hornets enter the 2010 ODAC Championship Tournament as the #1 seed, and will entertain the #8 seed at a time to be determined Saturday.
