Hernandez, Graves Receive All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, VA – Senior Manny Hernandez and sophomore Alex Graves received all-ODAC recognition Thursday when the end of season awards were announced. Hernandez was named to the second team, while Graves earned third-team accolades.

Virginia Wesleyan College guard D.J. Woodmore was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year while Randolph-Macon College's Nathan Davis earned Coach of the Year distinction. Khory Moore of Virginia Wesleyan earned Rookie of the Year honors while Washington and Lee University's Drew Kimberly was tabbed with the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award.

Hernandez had a solid senior campaign for the Hornets, averaging 15.7 points per game in the regular season to lead the team. He recently scored his 1,000th career point against Washington and Lee on February 17. He sits fifth in the league in scoring, third in free throw percentage (86.4), and ninth in blocks, turning away 18 on the season. This is the second straight year that Hernandez was named All-ODAC Second Team.

Graves receives postseason recognition for the first time in his Hornet career. The All-ODAC Third Team selection has six double-doubles on the season. He averages 12.3 points per game, joining Hernandez as the only other Hornet in double-figure scoring. He ranks seventh in the ODAC, and leads the team, with 6.9 rebounds per game. Graves also is fifth in the league in blocks with 23 on the season.

#4 Lynchburg will play in the ODAC quarterfinals Friday at 3 p.m. when they face #5 Eastern Mennonite University. The Royals defeated Emory & Henry College 89-63 on Tuesday to set up the meeting with the Hornets.

The Hornets faced EMU once in the regular season, defeating the Royals 107-87 in Harrisonburg, VA. Hernandez led all scorers with a season-high 28 points.
