Austen Arnold Scores Career-High 21 as Hornet Men Defeat Roanoke 86-68

SALEM, VA – Freshman forward Austen Arnold scored a career-high 21 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Lynchburg College men's basketball team to a 86-68 victory at Roanoke College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Arnold scored eight first-half points to help give LC a 40-33 edge at intermission. Fellow freshman Alex Graves had six points and eight rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play.

LC led 44-38 with 17:33 on the game clock, but used an 11-2 run to pull ahead by 15 and never looked back.

Arnold hit all five of his three-point attempts and also snared six rebounds. Graves had a solid effort as well, scoring 14 points with a game-high 12 rebounds and four steals. He also shot 6-of-8 from the floor. Senior center Austin Chillemi added 10 points, and junior guard Andrew Simmons and freshman guard Tyri Morring each had nine points. Simmons handed out seven assists as well.

Kwasi Amponsah scored a game-high 22 points for Roanoke (7-8/0-6 ODAC), while Julian Ramirez and Daniel Eacho each had 11 points for the Maroons. The Hornets had a 51-38 advantage on the glass and shot 48 percent (31-65) from the field, to RC's 37 percent (23-62).  

The Hornets (12-3/3-3) host Emory & Henry College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in more ODAC action.
