Hornet Men roll to 92-62 Victory over Piedmont

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's basketball team scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back Saturday afternoon, posting a 92-62 win over visiting Piedmont College (GA) in non-conference play.

Senior center Austin Chillemi and junior guard Xavier Parham each had four points to fuel the 13-0 run in the first five minutes of the game. LC held a lead of 48-16 at halftime, which tied its biggest advantage of the contest.

Freshman Austen Arnold led a balanced Hornet scoring attack with 18 points, hitting all six of his field-goal attempts. Parham contributed 12 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals, and Harry West had nine points. Chillemi had six points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks in just 17 minutes of play and Michael Wims and Michael Glover each had seven points as 14 Hornets got in the scoring column.

Tyler Arnold had 13 points and six rebounds for Piedmont (0-3). Jessie Jenkins tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds and Alton Honors II scored 11 points. The Hornet defense forced 31 Lion turnovers while committing 25 of their own. Piedmont shot just 17 percent from the field (6-35) in the first half, but heated up after intermission, shooting 56 percent (14-25).  

The Hornets (5-1) host second-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Old Dominion Athletic action.
