Hornet Men Remain Unbeaten with 110-90 Win over Johnson & Wales

SALEM, VA – Junior Manny Hernandez scored a career and team-high 27 points Saturday afternoon as the Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated Johnson & Wales University (RI) 110-90 in the Dick Leftwich Roanoke College Classic.
The Hornets had to bounce back from an early deficit. J&W held a 25-10 lead at the 11:11 mark of the first half before Lynchburg took over. A 40-17 surge closed out the half with the Hornets ahead 50-42. The Wildcats kept the score close after intermission, but LC put the game away late, leading by as many as 26.
Hernandez hit 10 of his 15 shot attempts and snared six rebounds and two steals. Junior guard Xavier Parham filled up the stat sheet with seven points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Senior center Austin Chillemi posted 12 points and six rebounds, and senior forward Michael Wims added 13 points. Freshman Alex Graves netted 11 points in just 15 minutes.
Tom Garrick, Jr. scored a game-high 44 points for the Wildcats (1-3), connecting on 15 of his 23 field goal tries, and added eight rebounds and four steals. Frank Robinson tallied 18 points.
Lynchburg (3-0) travels to Averett University Monday for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
