Lynchburg Men's Basketball Falls to Division I Elon University
ELON, NC – Junior Nate Campbell scored 14 points on Sunday as the Lynchburg College men's basketball team fell to Division I opponent Elon University 109-67 in non-conference play.
Campbell went 2-4 from three-point range and grabbed five rebounds in the game. Sophomore Xavier Parham and junior Brandan Connor each added nine points in the contest.
The Phoenix held the lead for nearly the entire game, but Lynchburg chipped away at the differential, tying the game at 23 at 10:47 mark of the first half off a three-pointer from junior Michael Wims. Elon separated from the Hornets though going into the half with Sebastian Koch hitting a three-pointer with five seconds left in the half to give the Phoenix a 50-39 lead going into halftime.
In the second half Elon, extended its lead and held Lynchburg to only 28 points in the half, ending with a final score of 109-67.
Junior Austin Chillemi led the Hornets in rebounds with eight, which included six offensive boards. Chillemi also chipped in seven points. Wims finished with seven points and two blocks.
Elon had seven players in double-digits in points, with Austin Hamilton leading the team with 16.
Lynchburg will play another Division I opponent next Friday at 7 p.m. when the team travels to Coastal Carolina University.
