LC men's basketball cruises to victory over Johnson & Wales
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated Johnson & Wales University in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon 79-39.
Junior forward Nate Campbell (Cary, NC/Cary) went 10-12 from the field scoring 22 points. Freshman Gary Boone (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) had 12 points and four rebounds. Lynchburg forced 23 turnovers from Johnson & Wales in the game as well.
The Hornets held a 41-27 lead at halftime and limited the Wildcats to 12 points in the second half while dropping 38 points while finishing the game with a 49.1 shooting percentage. Eleven out of the twleve Lynchburg players to see the floor scored points in the game. Junior guard Quentin Aldridge (Fredericksburg, VA/CD Hylton) had a team-high four steals while adding five points.
Willie Perlotte led JWU with nine points and three assists.
This is the second victory over Johnson & Wales this season for Lynchburg, having defeated the Wildcats 105-50 on Dec. 6 in Turner Gym.
Lynchburg returns home on Wednesday to host Eastern Mennonite University at 7 p.m.
