Hornet Field Hockey Clinches Regular-Season ODAC Title with 4-1 Win at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, VA –
Four different Hornets found the back of the cage Saturday afternoon as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Bridgewater College 4-1 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup.  The win secures the regular-season ODAC title for LC, and assures the Hornets the #1 seed and home-field advantage in the upcoming ODAC Championship Tournament.

Lynchburg struck less than five minutes into play, as Courtney Gillette knocked in an unassisted tally. Kayla Krause scored on a feed from Nicole Marburger and LC went into halftime 2-0.

Marburger scored a goal herself in the second half and Katie Kline added another insurance tally with 16 minutes left from Morgan Lammando to put LC up 4-0. Bridgewater's Megan Gould got the Eagles on the board with a goal after time expired off of a penalty corner.

Hannah Myers made two saves for Lynchburg despite playing no minutes in net, rejecting two great BC opportunities to score off of penalty strokes. Jordan Seeley played all 70 minutes between the pipes and made seven stops.

Jessica Balsano made nine stops for the Eagles (10-5/4-2 ODAC).

LC (13-4/7-0 ODAC) looks to close out an unbeaten conference regular season Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., hosting Eastern Mennonite University.
