Hornet Field Hockey Rolls to 7-1 Victory over VWC on Homecoming

LYNCHBURG, VA – A balanced scoring attack that featured seven different goal scorers gave the Lynchburg College field hockey team a 7-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. The team's eight seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony on Senior Day.

The contest was scoreless for nearly 30 minutes, until Courtney Gillette scored from Taylor Quillen at 29:53. LC held the 1-0 lead into intermission, and exploded in the second half. Kelsey Link and Morgan Lammando each scored quickly after the break, and Nicole Marburger made the score 4-0 with 25 minutes remaining. After Skylar Weaver found the back of the cage for the Marlins, Abby Bunting, Tess Brzezynski and Catherine Rogerson each had late goals for LC.

Lynchburg out-shot VWC 27-3 and held an 11-1 edge in penalty corners.  Kirsten Olsen and Lindsay Baker combined to stop 14 shots for the Marlins (7-6/2-5 ODAC).

Lynchburg (11-4/5-0 ODAC) travels to Roanoke College for another ODAC game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
