Milks Once Again Named to the Academic All-District Team

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For the second year in a row, Lynchburg College field hockey standout Shelly Milks has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District women's at-large team.  This award is given to student-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the field.

Milks is graduating from LC on Saturday with a 3.975 cumulative GPA while majoring in exercise physiology with a minor in Spanish.  She has earned numerous academic and athletic awards in her career.  Milks has been Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year three times, ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year twice, All-American three times, and All-State three times.  This year she won both the Female Athlete of the Year (she also won as a junior) and the Female Senior Award at Lynchburg College.

Milks was also awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship in March and was named a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2012 Gladiator SGI/NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction.

Milks will be entering the Lynchburg College Doctoral of Physical Therapy program this fall.
