Leonard Looms Large as Hornets Win 3-0

HARRISONBURG, VA – Senior co-captain Lindsay Leonard was the story of the game, scoring all three goals for #19 ranked Lynchburg College as the Hornets took down Eastern Mennonite University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play in Harrisonburg.

LC put the pressure on the Royals early as senior Johanna Agustin assisted on a ball to Leonard that found the back of the cage less than nine minutes into the match.

The Hornets extended the lead in the 21st minute as sophomore Katie Kline took a penalty corner. LC managed to keep the ball in its side of the field, ending up on the stick of Nicole Marburger. The junior found Leonard for her second goal of the game.

LC outshot the Royals 15-4 in the first period, on pace to a 30-8 advantage. The Hornets had a large advantage in penalty corners as well, taking 12 as opposed to four by EMU.

Leonard scored one of those second period shots on an assisted from fellow senior co-captain Shelly Milks. This was Leonard's first hat trick of the season.

Hannah Myers had eight saves for the Hornets. Sam Ferrier had 14 saves for EMU (2-5/1-1).

Lynchburg College returns home Friday, September 28 for a 7 p.m. ODAC matchup against Bridgewater College.
