Francis and Leonard Named ODAC Players of the Week

FOREST, VA – With the release of the Player of the Week honors by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) office on Monday, two Lynchburg College student-athletes found themselves honored for their performances.  Senior Lindsay Leonard earned the field hockey award, and freshman Colby Francis was the recipient in golf.

Leonard helped the #20 Hornets win both games this past week.  She scored a goal and assisted on another one in the neutral site victory over Wesley College on September 20.  Then on Senior Day Saturday, she scored the game-winning goal over Shenandoah University, while pressuring SU the entire game.  It is the seventh time in her career that she has been named ODAC Player of the Week.

Francis started off his Lynchburg career with a third-place finish at the Tom Kinder Memorial Golf Tournament.  He finished with a two-day total of 141, being one of only seven players under par.  His second day score of 69, tied for the low score of the day.  Francis helped the Hornets finish seventh in the 18-team tournament, and fourth among ODAC schools.

The field hockey team will head to Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday and the golf team will be competing in the two-day Hampden-Sydney Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
