Hannah Myers leads LC Defense to 3-2 Victory over Depauw

LYNCHBURG, VA – Defense led the way for the #7 Lynchburg College field hockey team Sunday as junior goalkeeper Hannah Myers made seven of her eight saves in the second half to hold on to a 3-2 victory in the final game of the ODAC Challenge on Shellenberger Field.

LC started the scoring with a solid first period with a goal from senior Ashley Nelson on an assist from freshman Morgan Lammando. Nelson contributed with the second score as well, assisting on Lindsey Leonard's strike at 22:48. Colleen Dore scored at 33:44 on Lammando's second assist of the game.

Both Depauw goals were scored by Margaret Ellis, including the only goal of the second period that cut the Hornet lead to 3-2 with 21 minutes left. The Tigers had 15 shots, 11 in the second half as opposed to 13 by LC, four of which came in the second period. Maggie Steele had six saves and Bridgette Shamleffer had an assist for Depauw (1-1).

Lynchburg (2-0) travels to Mary Washington (1-0) on Saturday, September 8 for a 2 p.m. match.
