Tess Brzezynski Nets Two Goals to Secure First Win
LYNCHBURG, VA – Attack Tess Bryzezynski scored her first two career goals to help the #7 Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 9-2 victory over Frostburg State University in each team's first game of the ODAC Challenge on Shellenberger Field.
Shelley Milks got the scoring started with an unassisted goal at 14:53. The two teams went back and forth with Brzezynski putting a shot in net and followed by one from Frostburg State's Alli Elliot. Milks then tallied the game-winner with a short-handed goal at 43:54.
Milks finished up her hat trick with a strike at 64:02. Colleen Dore added two goals for the Hornets. Ashley Nelson and Morgan Lammando also scored for LC. Lindsay Leonard picked up three assists for the home team.
Lynchburg registered 61 shots to go along with 17 penalty corners.
Frostburg State goalkeeper Maggie Edwards recorded 21 saves. Freshman Megan Grimm added seven saves in her first collegiate appearance. Elliot scored both goals for the Bobcats.
Lynchburg College (1-0) plays Depauw University on Sunday in the final game of the ODAC Challenge.
