Hornet Shelly Milks Earns More National Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Lynchburg College field hockey midfielder Shelly Milks was named to the CoSIDA Academic District 5 NCAA Division III team, as released on Monday.

Milks earned the at-large honors after posting a 3.95 GPA in exercise physiology.  With the honor, Milks is eligible for Academic All-American accolades.  This year, she was named the ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference), state, and South-Region player of the Year.  In addition to those honors, Milks was named All-ODAC first-team, All-state first-team, All South-Region first-team, and All-American first-team.  For the year, she scored 10 goals and assisted on nine more.

The field hockey team made it to the NCAA quarterfinals this year and finished the season with an overall record of 19-2.  The Hornets also won their sixth straight ODAC title this year.

LC will open the 2012 season at home against Frostburg St. University in the ODAC Challenge on September 1, with the game slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
