LC Field Hockey Named to the NFHCA National Academic Team Honorable Mention

CHANDLER, AZ – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released the National Academic Awards on Monday, and the Hornets received honors once again.

LC was named as a team on the Honorable Mention list, which has programs that had a collective GPA over 3.0.  Lynchburg was one of five programs from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) represented.

Along with the team awards, individuals were recognized as well for their outstanding work in the classroom.  17 Hornets were honored: Johanna Agustin, Madlene Brannau, Heather Dodge, Eliza Fritz, Katie Kline, Lindsay Leonard, Kelsey Link, Bianca Merritt, Shelly Milks, Kristina Morris, Hannah Myers, Ashley Nelson, Tarah Rahner, Jordan Seeley, Diana Smith, Melanie Tenney, and Ashley Vogan.  Seniors Morris, Rahner, and Smith were all fouryear honorees.

The Hornets will open up the season against Frostburg State University on September 2nd and will be looking for their seventh-consecutive ODAC title in 2012.
