LC field hockey winning streak up to eight with win over Randolph-Macon



ASHLAND, VA - Lynchburg College field hockey has now won eight-straight games after they defeated Randolph-Macon College 4-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 12 ranked Hornets were led by their offense once again, as they have outscored their opponents 50-4 through the past eight games.  Freshman Kelli Williams (New Castle, DE/William Penn) scored the first goal of the game with 9:23 left in the first half off an assist from sophomore Lindsay Leonard (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) who leads the Hornets in assists this season with nine.

Freshman Haili Hartman (Centreville, VA/Centreville) scored 6:12 into the second half off an assist from junior Kristina Morris (Stafford, VA/Mountain View) who also assisted on senior Jenny Weir's first goal almost seven minutes later to make it 3-0.

Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) who is also the reigning ODAC player of the week, scored again with 2:26 left in the game to make it a final of 4-0.

Junior goalie Tiffany Frye (Williamsburg, VA/Bruton) played the full game and had one save.  Randolph-Macon goalie Nicole Woodworth had 21 saves in the contest.

Lynchburg (11-2/5-0) who remains perfect in ODAC play, will travel to Salisbury University next Wednesday, Oct. 20.
