LC Equestrian Starts Season Strong, Wins Randolph/Lynchburg IHSA Horse Show

LYNCHBURG, VA- The Lynchburg College equestrian got off to a good start last Friday, winning the Randolph & Lynchburg College IHSA Horse Show.

The show featured competing teams from Hollins, Sweet Briar, Bridgewater, Mary Baldwin, Washington & Lee, Roanoke, Radford, UVA, and JMU as well as hosts Randolph and Lynchburg.

Sophomore Katie Plazak was one of two LC riders to win her event. Plazak won the Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter while senior Rachel Jones won the Intermediate Flat.

The Hornet freshmen had strong showings in their first collegiate show. Mckenzie Canard placed second in Open Flat and fourth in Intermediate Fences. Haley Ciriello was fifth in the Open Flat.

Adding to the team's successful day was sophomore Bryce Extine, finishing second in Novice Fences. Junior Shelby Wambold was sixth in Novice Fences and second in Novice Flat. Sophomore Nicole Ratto was fifth in Novice Flat.

Rounding out the day were sophomore Emma Hamilton's second place finish at the Walk Trot and junior Patrice Gibson's fourth place finish at Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter.

The LC equestrian team will be in action on October 20 as the travel to Hollins College for the Hollins IHSA.
