Brett Flower Announced as Head Equestrian Coach  

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College Athletic Department announced Friday the hiring of Brett Flower as its head equestrian coach.

Flower received her Bachelor's in Environmental Planning and Policy from Virginia Tech where she was also a member of the IHSA Hunter Team from fall 2007-2010. Brett competed on the IDA Dressage Team from spring 2007-2010. She was also Vice President of the Equestrian Club where she organized the home IHSA horse shows for the Hokies.

Flower qualified for the Zone Finals in Open fences and Flat in 2009 and 2010. She also qualified for the IHSA Nationals in 2008, placing fourth overall in Intermediate Over Fences.

In addition to Flowers numerous honors and awards, Brett has been working with horses for the majority of her life. She has spent time as a camp counselor, exercise rider, groomer, rider, and trainer.

"I am very excited to take over as Lynchburg College's head coach," said Flower. "I am looking to help make the team a cohesive unit and successful in the conference and region."

The Hornets open the 2012 fall season this Friday at 10 a.m. at the Randolph College/Lynchburg College IHSA.
