LC Equestrian Places First at UVA IHSA; Compete in Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA and BALTIMORE, MD– The Lynchburg College equestrian team competed at the UVA IHSA horse show and finished as the high point team and also competed in the Regional Finals on Sunday, February 19.

In the IHSA horse show, senior Jordan Rooney placed third in the open flat, while senior Kelly Gerland finished fourth in the open fences. Junior Rachel Jones had a second place finish in the intermediate flat and senior Alyssa Roehr finished fifth in the intermediate fences. Senior Emilee Herbert placed fifth in the novice flat, while freshman Bryce Extine finished second in the novice fences. Sophomore Taylor Dalton captured first place in the walk trot canter.

Freshman Katie Plazak, junior Kelli Greenslade, senior Taylor Fellows, senior Jamie Carille, Gerland, and Jones all competed in the Regional Finals at UVA.

In the open fences, Gerland came in second place and qualified for Zones at Goucher University. In the intermediate flat, Carille finished sixth and Fellows took seventh. Greenslade had a first place finish in the novice fences and qualified for Zones, while Plazak captured first place in the walk trot and qualified for Zones as well.

The Hornet riders will be back in action on March 30, when they will compete in an In-House Show at 4 p.m.
