LC Finishes an Impressing Third at the Pre-Season Tournament of Champions Invitational

Towson, MD - The Lynchburg College equestrian team headed north to Goucher College this past Saturday, September 25. There were 24 teams at the show and the Hornets finished third in a stiff competition with 29 points. LC was just one point behind Bridgewater who came in second with 30 points, and just two points away from the victor, Mary Washington who finished in first place with 31 points.

Junior Kelly Gerland (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) led the group and captured sixth place in the Tournament of Champions Medal Class and also finished second in the open fences. Jordan Rooney (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) came in fifth for the Hornets in the open flat. Boasting third in the intermediate flat was Jamie Carille (Virginia Beach, VA/Frank W. Cox) and placing sixth in the intermediate fences was Krissy Guthrie (Glenmore, PA/Downingtown). Freshman Shelby Wambold (Elverson, PA/Twin Valley) finished fourth in the novice flat. Winning a first place ribbon in walk trot canter was Kelli Greenslade and also taking first in walk trot was Paul Drew Nichols.

The LC riders won't be in action again until Friday, October 15 where they will compete in the RC/LC IHSA.
