Allyson Harmon Named New Cheerleading Head Coach at Lynchburg College

LYNCHBURG, VA – Allyson Harmon was announced Tuesday as the new cheerleading coach at Lynchburg College.

Harmon served as the team captain of the Hornet cheerleading squad to cap her four-year career at LC. She graduated last spring from Lynchburg College with a degree in marketing and a minor in graphic design. Harmon is attending graduate school at LC, pursuing a degree in curriculum and instruction with a teaching licensure.

"I am very excited about the opportunity that I have been given with the LC Cheer Program," said Harmon. "Being a former team member makes it both a personal and professional endeavor. A solid program has been built through a lot of hard work and dedication from both the student-athletes and the coaching staff. I look forward to working with the athletes and continuing the success of the program as we represent Lynchburg College and support our varsity athletes."

Harmon volunteered to help the Forest Rec cheerleaders choreograph their dance in the fall of 2010. She also worked as an office assistant at LC from 2010-2012.

"We are pleased to have someone with Aly's youth and enthusiasm on staff," said LC director of athletics Dr. Jack Toms. "The cheerleading squad is a very important team for us and it is in the right hands going forward."

Harmon has a Spirit Safety Certification from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators.
