Lynchburg College Teams Mentioned by NCAA
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Lynchburg College's women's soccer and field hockey teams and men's cross country teams received national recognition this week when the polls and national statistics were released.
Lynchburg College women's soccer was listed all over the national statistics. The Hornets are currently first in shutout percentage (.923) with shutouts in 12 of 13 games and second in goals against average (.145) trailing York (PA) College. Defense has been a key to the Hornets success as junior Rachel Sadowski, senior Nikki Rhodes, sophomore Kathleen Szafranski, and freshman Mary Beier have stepped up in the absence of others to lock down the area around goal and keep the ball in the offensive zone.
Individually, senior Audrey Moore is sixth in the nation in goals against average (.167), having only given up two goals in the Hornets 13 matches. Freshman Morgan Singer was mentioned for collected the fourth highest single-game goal total this season when she netted five against Randolph. Singer also tied the school record with that showing.
The field hockey team remained ranked #19 in the nation for the third straight week. The men's cross country team moved up a spot to #5 in the South/Southeast Regional. Women's soccer climbed two spots in this week's poll to settle in at #9.
