Henderlite Named D3baseball.com First-Team All-Region

LYNCHBURG, VA – D3baseball.com recently came out with its all-region teams for the 2013 season and sophomore Martin Henderlite was named as one of three starting pitchers on the All-South First Team.

Henderlite put together one of the best single-season pitching efforts in recent memory for the baseball team. Martin's 1.12 ERA led the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and was less than half of the next lowest (2.27). Henderlite also led the conference with eight wins, two more than the second place finisher, while striking out 55 batters.

This is not the first time this season that Martin has been honored by d3baseball.com, making their National Team of the Week for his performance against York College on February 24 when he pitched a complete game two-hitter while striking out nine. He sat down 16 straight batters to end the victory.

The 2013 ODAC Pitcher of the Year had a 0.94 ERA in the conference, due in part to a 25 consecutive inning scoreless streak that spanned four starts. On the year, Henderlite allowed a miniscule five earned runs in conference play.

Henderlite is one of three ODAC players named to the first team, joining Jonathan Stutts of Washington and Lee University and Nick Fulk of Bridgewater College. He is the only ODAC starting pitcher to receive All-Region honors by the website.
