NCAA Baseball Tournament Bracket Released, Lynchburg Headed to CNU Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Lynchburg College baseball team was selected as the fifth seed in the Newport News Regional, hosted by Christopher Newport University.  LC is one of 56 teams selected to take part in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

Lynchburg will take on Salisbury University in game two of the regional on Wednesday at 1 p.m.  The tournament is a double-elimination format, with LC being guaranteed a second game on Thursday.

The Hornets (30-8) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) automatic bid after winning the conference tournament championship on April 29th.  Senior Robert Garrett threw his second complete game of the tournament to defeat Bridgewater College 2-1, and he was named ODAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player for his efforts.

Six teams comprise the regional: no. 1 seed CNU, no. 2 Salisbury, no. 3 Shenandoah University, no. 4 Rowan University, Lynchburg, and no. 6 Messiah College.  Live stats and video will be available through the following link: http://www.cnusports.com/sports/2012/4/26/BB_0426124452.aspx
