LC Baseball Defeats Penn State Abington 4-2

LYNCHBURG, VA – Using a three-run fourth inning, the Lynchburg College baseball team defeated Penn State University Abington on Friday afternoon 4-2 in non-conference play.

Junior Michael Kenah went 1-2 on the day, with two RBI. Freshman Jay Kenyon also added an RBI in the victory.

The Nittany Lions took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but were quickly answered by three Lynchburg runs in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded, Kenah hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring junior Michael Del Buono. Kenyon followed it up with a single to score junior Dan Savage, while sophomore Dustin Arrowood crossed home plate on the throw, giving LC a 3-1 lead.

Penn State Abington scored one in the sixth on an RBI ground out, but Kenah posted an RBI-double in the eighth, putting Lynchburg up 4-2 for good.

Sophomore Trevor Johnston pitched five innings, giving up four hits and one run. He struck out six while earning his first win of the season. Freshmen Reid Goss and Martin Henderlite each pitched in relief, with Henderlite picking up his first career save.

Pat Trymbiski took the loss for Penn State Abington (4-6), pitching six innings while giving up two hits and three runs. Matt Lawson had both RBI for the Nittany Lions. Lynchburg drew a total of seven walks in the game.

The Hornets (9-3/1-1 ODAC) head to Randolph-Macon College on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
