2009 ALL-ODAC SECOND TEAM
Senior (2011): Had a very productive season on the mound as well as on the plate for the Hornets his senior year… on offense he played in 32 games starting 28 and posted a .317 batting average…had four hits in a game twice…was third on the team in runs scored with 19… had a .372 on base percentage and tallied five stolen bases… on the mound he was tied for first in wins with six and had a 2.32 ERA… only allowed 16 runs and four doubles… had a perfect win-loss percentage with six wins and no losses… only allowed one home run all year.
Junior (2010): The junior had another productive season for the Hornets, both on the mound and at the plate . . . offensively, posted a .351 batting average playing mostly at second and third base . . . struck out a team-low 18 times for players with more then a 100 ABs . . . had four hits in a win over Greensboro College . . . in his first start of the season on the mound, went the distance striking out 11 against Ferrum . . . tossed three shutout innings against Bridgewater on Apr. 18.
Sophomore (2009): Had a breakout season for the Hornets after transferring from in-league rival Hampden-Sydney . . . settled in as the everyday second baseman mid-way through the season and sparkled, hitting .410 in 28 games, all starts . . . led the Hornets in hitting this season, and was fourth in the ODAC in that category . . . posted 10 multi-hit affairs, including a four-hit contest against NC Wesleyan on Mar. 27 and a five-hit, three RBI outburst against Washington & Lee in game two win . . . tied for the team lead with a 14-game hit streak spanning from Mar. 7 to Apr. 2 . . . finished second on the squad with 26 RBI, despite only 100 at-bats . . . was third in the conference with runners in scoring position with a .483 clip . . . also tossed two innings in relief for the Hornets.
Freshman - Hampden-Sydney College (2008): Pitched 14.0 innings for the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College . . . posted a 1-2 record in six games, getting two starts.
Before LC: Was a three-year starter and letter winner for the Bulls of Hereford HS . . . was honored as a All-County second team honoree . . . National Honors Society member.
Personal: Son of Bryan and Janet Watkins . . . has one sister . . . computer science and mathematics majors . . . member of Magna Cum Laude National Scholars Honor Society.
