FOREST, Va. - The competition for the 2011-12
ODAC Commissioner's Cups proved to be as tight as some of the
standings through the athletic seasons. Washington and Lee
University edged Lynchburg College by .019 rating points to claim
its ninth straight Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup,
sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance. The Generals also retained the
Women's Commissioner's Cup for the ninth consecutive year.
Lynchburg won its fourth straight Men's Commissioner's Cup.

Overall Champions Cup and the Men and Women's Commissioner's Cups.
Farm Bureau and the ODAC continue their partnership in focusing on
the strength of the conference's student-athletes and maintaining
the NCAA Division III philosophy of the complete student-athlete
experience. Aside from supporting the ODAC Commissioners' Cups,
Farm Bureau is the sponsor of the ODAC's sport-by-sport
scholar-athlete awards.
As determined by the ODAC Board of Directors, points for the
Commissioner's Cups are based on regular-season standings in team
sports and championship team finishes in individual sports. Each
institution has a total number of possible points it can collect
based on its individual sport sponsorship. The total number of
points earned is then divided by the total number of possible
points to determine the ranking for each institution.
The race of the overall cup came down to the final results from the
spring sports. Washington and Lee racked up 143.0 points out of a
possible 195.0 for a rating of .733. Lynchburg collected 135.0
total tallies against 189.0 possible points for a .714 rating.
Randolph-Macon College (101.0-of-148.0 / .682) held off Bridgewater
College (130.5-of-197.0 / .662) by .020 rating points for third
overall.
Washington and Lee, winners of its 16th overall sport trophy,
locked up its 12th women's cup with a .788 rating, which is .074
clear of second place Lynchburg. The Generals won the team
championship in swimming and finished atop the regular season
rankings in women's lacrosse, women's tennis and volleyball.
W&L earned men's first place points in football and men's
tennis on the way to a third place finish (.685 rating).
Lynchburg earned first place points in seven ODAC sports, including
five on the men's side towards an accumulation of 60.0 of a
possible 84.0 points and a .714 rating. The Hornets claimed top
prize in baseball, men's lacrosse, men's cross country, and men's
indoor and outdoor track. LC also earned top points in field hockey
and women's soccer, which helped it to a second place showing in
the women's cup standings (.714 rating).
Randolph-Macon finished in the top-three in each cup's standings.
In the overall compeition, R-MC collected 101.0 of a possible 148.0
points for a .682 mark. The Yellow Jackets ranked second in the
men's chart with a .685 rating (44.5-of-65.0 points), and placed
third in the women's cup with a .681 rating (56.5-of-83.0
points).
