During the week of July 8-July 12, 2012, Lynchburg College will host its third annual Lynchburg College Women’s Overnight Soccer camp. At this camp, campers have the opportunity to stay overnight in Lynchburg College dorms and improve their soccer skills under the guidance of the Lynchburg College Women’s Soccer coaching staff and current players. Campers will dine in the Lynchburg College cafeteria. A certified athletic trainer will be present during each session to provide assistance in the event of an injury. During the week, the LCWS coaching staff will provide a college recruiting session for all athletes interested in pursuing collegiate soccer. We also have a day camper option for campers who live in the area and would like to stay at home overnight. This year, we have added a team registration option for teams with at least eight participating members.
2012 Camp costs
Overnight camp (individual): $400 Overnight camp (team): $375
Day camp (individual): $300 Day camp (team): $275
Last year’s camp roster had participants who traveled from throughout the mid-Atlantic region, the mid-western states of Kentucky and Illinois, and from as far as Texas. For four days, the girls worked very hard with our women’s soccer staff and current women’s soccer players to improve their soccer skills, abilities, and fitness levels. Each day consisted of three very different training sessions. In the morning, the athletes were exposed to dynamic, soccer specific fitness and agility exercises designed to improve muscle strength and memory in order to reduce the risk of injuries. In the afternoons, the campers participated in technical training sessions focused on coerver moves and techniques for dribbling, passing, and shooting. During the afternoons, they also played in small sided games of 3 vs. 3 and 4 vs. 4. The evenings followed with 7 vs. 7 and 11 vs. 11 scrimmages. All sessions were comparable to a typical Lynchburg College Women’s Soccer practice sessions.
